EAR WAX

Ears produce wax to protect our ear canals. Normally, this naturally moves out of the ear on its own. Sometimes however, a plug of wax can form, blocking your ear canal. This can cause a feeling of deafness and / or pain and discomfort.

MIDDLE EAR

•Middle ear infection or otitis media is an extremely common cause of earache in children. It can occur in adults, but is unusual. It is most common in children of preschool age. It often occurs following a common cold.

COMMON COLD

Sometimes, a common cold can cause earaches without there being an infection of the ear itself. The pain is caused by excessive mucus from the cold collecting in the middle ear and putting pressure on the eardrum.

SWIMMER’S EAR

Infection in the ear canal or otitis externa is
an external infection of the outer part of the ear.
Also known as swimmers ears, this type of
infection is more common in adults than in children.
